The City of Georgetown is now accepting applications for the position of Electric Line Technician B . Under general supervision, performs unskilled and skilled technical work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical systems. Responds to customer concern calls in a safe and timely manner. Reports to Utility Line Supervisor. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:Performs unskilled and skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.Performs construction duties such as installing primary and secondary lines, framing and setting new poles, installing underground lines, setting underground transformers, framing and setting security and street light poles, hanging new transformers, and installing metering equipment.Works on call 24 hours per day as scheduled and is available to work additional hours during weather and emergencies as needed/requested.Assists in maintaining department inventory records.Performs all work in compliance with plans, specifications, codes, regulations, department policies and procedures, and standards of equality and safety.Prepares and/or generates a variety of documents such as inventory sheets and work orders.Refers to MSDS, safety books, safety manuals, and operator/equipment manuals.Interacts and communicates with various internal and external groups and individuals.Utilizes a variety of machinery and/or equipment such as bucket trucks, line trucks, trenchers, forklifts, hand tools, electrical distribution equipment, etc. Maintains assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools.Conducts the installation, maintenance, removal, and storage of holiday decorations.Assists with basic minor electrical maintenance in City buildings and structures.Performs building maintenance and cleaning duties when assigned.Performs other related duties as directed. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Vocational diploma or certificate supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years of electric line experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) . PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Must be physically able to operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment. Must be able to exert force to push, stoop, lift, reach, pull, kneel, carry, or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking and standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to 100 pounds. Must be comfortable working within confined spaces for short periods of time. City of Georgetown is a Drug Free and Equal Opportunity Employer.
