Water Distribution Mechanic I or II

Description:
The City of Georgetown is now accepting applications for (2) open positions of Water Distribution Mechanic I or II. Under general supervision, Installs, maintains, and repairs water distribution lines within the City. Locates, troubleshoots, and repairs water mains and service lines. Installs, replaces, maintains, and/or repairs water meters and fire hydrants. Operates system relief valves, air valves, isolation valves, fire hydrants, and backflows. Operates a variety of light and heavy automotive, construction, or specialized equipment. Reports to the Water Distribution Supervisor Physical Requirements : Must be physically able to operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment. Must be able to push, stoop, lift, pull, reach, kneel, climb, crawl, crouch, carry, or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking or standing for periods of time. May work outdoors in inclement weather conditions. Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to 80 - 100 pounds. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Water Distribution Mechanic I: High School Diploma supplemented by a minimum of zero to one (0 - 1) years' experience in a job-related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid South Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Current Class D Water Distribution Operator License, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire. Water Distribution Mechanic II: High School Diploma supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a job-related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Current South Carolina Class C Water Distribution Operator License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Valid South Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License. Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
