Then come apply with the City of Georgetown!The City of Georgetown is now accepting applications for the position of Water Distribution Mechanic III! ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Provides crew leadership in a safe environment. • Reviews the work of crew members for completeness and accuracy. • Offers training, instruction, advice and assistance to crew. • Locates, troubleshoots and repairs broken mains and lines. • Supervises distribution crew members when required or as assigned. • Assists with or prepares work plans or schedules as required. • Constructs, installs and maintains water service lines and mains, valves, hydrants and associated appurtenances. Completes water taps and service connections. • Installs, replaces, maintains and repairs water meters and fire hydrants. Flushes hydrants and tests hydrant flow pressure. Assists with planning and installation of all related infrastructures to meet the future needs of new developments within the City limits. • Is responsible for locating and marking water lines upon request. • Operates a variety of light and heavy automotive, construction and specialty equipment such as a backhoe, tractor, dump truck, line truck, tapping machine, boring equipment, air hammer, etc. as required to complete assigned tasks. • Attends meetings, training, etc. as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills. • Works on call 24 hours per day to help ensure uninterrupted water service for the City customers. • Assists other department crew members with duties as necessary. • Receives and/or reviews various records and reports including water leak repairs and customer complaints. • Prepares and/or generates a variety of documents including equipment problems, time sheets and overtime sheets. • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as supervisor, crew, customers and land owners. • Operates a variety of machinery and equipment such as a backhoe, dump truck and a sweeper. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs sanitation duties around the department. Cuts grass. Provides supervision in the absence of the supervisor. Performs other related duties as required. Physical Requirements : Must be physically able to operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment. Must be able to push, stoop, lift, pull, reach, kneel , climb, crawl, crouch, carry or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to 80 pounds.Salary Range: $36,127.74-$50,578.64 Minimum Qualifications: Requires a High School Diploma supplemented by a minimum of two to three years of experience in a job related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess or be able to obtain within six-months of hiring a Class "B" CDL license, Class "B" Water Distribution Operator Licenses and Backflow Prevention Certification.Deadline for all applications: September 15, 2014 City of Georgetown is a Drug Free and Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
