Summary Logistics, Transportation & Parking has an opening for a Parking Maintenance Worker I. This position requires outdoor work in parking structures and exposure to various seasonal environmental conditions. Responsibilities* Maintain parking structures and lots in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Collect, haul and dispose of refuse and debris. Sweep, mop, wash and disinfect elevator cars and lobby areas. Wash walls, windows, doors, ceilings, handrails, signs and stairwells. Replace lamps and clean light fixtures and covers. Install, repair, replace and maintain parking pre-cast curbs. Control Weeds and other vegetation using spray equipment (vehicular mounted sprayer, hand sprayer & weed whip). Erect vehicle and pedestrian barricades. Paint posts, curbs and striping of parking spacesOperate equipment including pick-up trucks, one ton dump body trucks, extended boom loaders, tool cats, skid loaders, street sweepers, riding sweepers & scrubbers and vacuuming equipment. Operate hand power tools including drills, reciprocating and circular saws, hand tools include sockets drivers, screwdrivers and wrenches; and, gas operated leaf vacuums, leaf blowers, power washers, generators, trash pumps and weed whips. Clean and maintain equipment.Remove snow and ice from parking structures, parking lots, walkways, steps, pay stations, bus shelters and building entrances using truck mounted snow plows, truck mounted deicing equipment (both granular and liquid), tool cats w/power brooms, hand shovels and snow blowers. Required Qualifications* Successful completion of an equipment operation skills test will be required.A State of Michigan Pesticide Sprayers license with endorsement 6 will be required and must be obtained within 90 days of employment.Ability to meet the requirements of operating a UM vehicle.Successful passing of a medical DOT exam before hired. Desired Qualifications* Experience in commercial and or residential snowplowing and deicing.Experience operating landscape, snow removal or construction type equipment.
